A PIN is a set of numbers, or a combination of letters and numbers, that you choose yourself. Using a PIN is a quick, secure way to sign in to your Windows device instead of using a password.
Please note, you will need to be logged into your computer account already, and know what your account password or previous PIN is if setting a PIN or changing the PIN, respectively.
Set a PIN for the First Time
- Click on the Start Menu
- Click on the Settings cog wheel icon
- Click on Accounts tab
- Select Sign-in Options
- Select Windows Hello PIN
- Click the Set Up button
- Enter in your computer password when prompted
- Enter in the PIN you would like to have in both the New PIN and Confirm PIN fields
- Optionally, you can tick the Include Letters and Symbols box if you would like to use more than just numbers
- Optionally, you can tick the Include Letters and Symbols box if you would like to use more than just numbers
- Click the OK button
- You may be prompted to sign into your Office 365 account
- The next time you sign into your computer, you will have the option to use the PIN instead of a password
Changing the PIN
- Click on the Start Menu
- Click on the Settings cog wheel icon
- Click on Accounts tab
- Select Sign-in Options
- Select Windows Hello PIN
- Click the Change PIN button
- Enter in the current PIN, as well as the new PIN you would like to have in both the New PIN and Confirm PIN fields
- Optionally, you can tick the Include Letters and Symbols box if you would like to use more than just numbers

- Click the OK button
- You may be prompted to sign into your Office 365 account
- The next time you sign into your computer, the new PIN will be used
